Belt, rope, paper plates, marker, watch.

You need 4 to 6 people and a large open area for this activity. To set up, print numbers one through ten on ten paper plates. Place them face up randomly about five feet apart in a large open area. Choose one person to wear a belt. Tie one end of a 10' piece of rope to the belt. Give the other end to a participant. Do this for each participant until the belted person has three to five ropes tied to his or her waist. The other participants should be holding the other end of the pieces of rope while standing in a circle around the belted person. The goal is for the belted person to touch all paper plates in order from one to ten. The belted person must do this with his or her eyes closed. The other participants help by giving verbal instructions or by pulling gently on their rope to guide the belted person. See how fast your group can complete the task. Try to come up with new strategies to improve your time.

As the belted person, what was the best way to receive directions from others? How does this reflect how you prefer to receive guidance and advice in other areas of your life? |
