Straws, masking tape, raw eggs, newspaper.

Give each person 12 straws and 6 feet of masking tape to build a
protective contraption around his or her egg. Build each contraption
one at a time. When it's your egg, you direct the designing and
building. When it's another person's egg, you help build the
contraption following that person's instructions. The goal is to drop
the egg from about 8 feet off the ground without breaking it. When all
the contraptions are built, let each person present their design
concept and building strategy. Then have the tallest person hold each
contraption above his or her head and then let it go onto a drop area.
Make sure the drop area is covered with newspaper in case the egg
breaks. Depending on the results, welcome applause or groans.

What are the "straws" and "tape" in your family? How do they help protect your family?
